Summer is coming to a close and winter will be here before we know it. We are looking forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for us here at Golgotha and in Avila Beach as we try to serve those in the community and on the streets.

At times it is very hard to see the destruction that drugs and alcohol do to many that we serve. One young man has been in and out of our men’s home three times. He is 19 years old, and he is truly a nice young man who, when sober, is amazing. But last Sunday he went and got drunk, got himself arrested, and is now out of the men’s home. Please pray for Zack as we try to reach him - only Jesus can restore him. Please pray for his mother, Dina, who is at a loss and is also in the middle of a divorce. These people we minister to have hard lives and little to no hope. Well, summer is upon us and the days are getting longer. For those who live on the streets it seems to be getting harder. Last week we went on the streets to serve the burritos and socks. It seemed to be different in some ways. Mainly, there are more people living in cars and motor homes. These are the ones who have just become homeless recently. Most of them rented and lost their apartments due to no job, so now they live out of their cars. Hopelessness is setting in for these folks.

The very first person I talked to last week was a woman who, when I asked her if she wanted a burrito, just started crying and took the food almost like an animal. She just grabbed it like I might not really give it to her. As she cried I asked her what she was going to do and she simply said, “I think I might commit suicide.” As I talked to her, I told her that the Lord sent me to her and to just take one day at a time. I urged her to get help, but off she went and that was the end of our conversation.

Please pray for these new homeless people. As we look into the Word of God we see that Jesus tells us to see the signs of the times, and the beginning of sorrows, as it says in Matthew 24:6-7, but we have faith in our Lord and we know He is in control. This season we are in will end as they all do, but, as we are in it, please do not forget the poor and forgotten.

We are excited about the work Jesus is doing. This past Sunday I had the privilege of baptizing one of our residents at The King’s House Recovery Home. This brother was raised Catholic, and as many stories we have heard, he was one of those young boys that was molested in the church. It was me and Cori, my daughter, who is almost 12 and
has been serving those on the street her whole life, and a friend’s son, who is
9 years old. As we walked and drove through the streets the boy was full
of questions for Cori and I, mostly Cori. At first he did not think that
there were any homeless in our area. Once he started giving the gifts
away he said, “These people are not always
here.” Cori explained to this young man that we come down here all the
time, and that they are always here, “you
just need to open your eyes and see them.” After that, he thought everyone down
there was homeless. Cori told him that not everyone with a backpack is homeless
and that you just really have to open your eyes and look at the person. Cori was right that day.

“Lord, give us eyes to see the needy that are right in front
of us that we are too blind to see.”

God Bless you. May our Lord, Jesus Christ, be the center of your joy in this season of reflection. Wow! I can’t believe this will be the last letter this year! It has gone by so fast!

We have been very busy this month. Cori and I went on the streets two weeks ago and had a great time giving out burritos, waters, and beanies & scarves to those in need. On Sunday we put together about 30 gift boxes with hats, scarves, gloves, candy, and toiletries together for those living outside on the street. Some folks came by the house after church and we all filled the shoe boxes and wrapped those up with ribbons and bows. We had such a great time.

The rain was so bad, and a lot of the roads were closed, so we could not give them out that day. So Cori and I are going to go out on Christmas day to hand them out. I wanted to do it during the week but I have been so busy, plus Cori really thought it would be better for us to give them out on Christmas. She is such a blessing to me how she loves these street dwellers and loves going out with me to take them things. She really loves giving out the Christmas boxes. She loves looking at their faces when you hand them a wrapped present. She says it makes her smile!

We pray all goes well this Holiday Season and remember: “JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!”

- Pastor Will

Golgotha Update | November 2010

Well, it is Thanksgiving week and we give praise to our Lord with all thanksgiving in our hearts for you all. We pray all is well and our Lord is pouring out His blessings upon you. Here at Golgotha we give thanks in these hard times. The burdens of our economy have hit us hard and we also see so many more in need. Families are having a difficult time making ends meet and those on the street are seeing more and more new faces. We do what we can, but we desire to do so much more.

The Men’s homes are doing well. Some new faces are in there also. Please pray for wisdom as one of the men came down with mononucleosis and we had to move him out for a month or so. This hits us hard for rent, but we do not want to let this man come back while he is still contagious to protect the other men. Please pray for wisdom for all of us and a healing for TJ.

We pray your holiday is blessed and your Lord is remembered in this time of Thanksgiving and Christmas. God is good and He is doing a powerful work for those who are lost and forgotten. The Men’s homes are doing well and men’s lives are being changed and touched by God. As for us at Golgotha, we are plugging along in the ministry of reaching those who are in need. As we prepare for the cold weather we have received knitted caps and scarves from a caring soul in our community to give to those on the street and at the shelter.

I have one quick story to give you all for some encouragement. One young lady who just got out of prison found herself living across from the Community Center where our little fellowship meets in Avila. As she went to her AA meetings, she discovered our church met in that same building on Sunday mornings. As she came to check out our church, she found herself in conversation with Davey, the manager of the men’s homes. She told me that she felt very welcome and that she did not feel judged at all for her past. Well a few weeks went by and were having a baptism at the beach. April was not sure what a baptism was but she knew she wanted it. So I explained what it was and April came to give her life to Jesus and then she was baptized. Since then she has had many things good and bad come into her life. But we are blessed to say she is on fire for Jesus and is growing in her walk with the lord.

We thank our Lord for those who need to see Jesus and feel comfortable with us to give Him a chance. We look forward to see not only those getting out of jail, but also those living on the streets, to be able to come to Jesus and make a life change and re-enter society.

May our Lord bless you all and please keep Golgotha in your prayers. We pray the Lord’s Son is shining His love upon you and we hope to see a powerful move of God’s love in your lives. Here at Golgotha we are doing well. The Lord is good and He seems to always be here at the right time. I have kind of a funny story I want to share.

I was out on the streets this last month and it was storming and raining so I really wanted to get some hot food and dry socks to the men and women living outside. I always take at least one person with me. My daughter, Cori, usually comes with but she was out of town and everyone else that usually helps was unavailable, so I went by myself. The rain kept all the people hidden out at the parks so I thought I would go to the day shelter, in San Luis Obispo, to see if anyone went there to get dry or get food. Well I usually put the burritos in a backpack and Cori does the same with the socks and the waters. Anyway, I was alone and just carried the bag of about 100 socks and a roll away cooler that keeps the burritos warm. As I walked into the courtyard I found about 100 to 150 homeless, wet, and hungry people and I knew I was in trouble. As I tried to hand out one burrito and one pair of socks the people realized I did not have enough for everyone. Within about 15 seconds I was rushed and pushed out of the way and everything was gone! I have not experienced that since I was in the ghettos of San Diego.

Now you might get mad at these people and ask me why we help people that are so rude. Jesus said, “When I was hungry, you fed me and when I was naked you clothed me.” You see, this is all about Jesus, nothing more than being obedient and showing them the love of Jesus. So, we press on in the mission Jesus has called us to—Love as He loves, especially those who may not love back, for that is the only love they may ever know—the only glimpse of Jesus they may ever see.

February 24, 2010

Dear Friends and Co-Workers in Christ,

We here at Golgotha pray all is well and that you are able to enjoy the grace of God and feel His presence in your lives. We are so excited about what the LORD is doing in people’s lives. The Men’s Home is full with young men from 18 to 25 years old, with an older brother for balance. Davey, the manager of King’s House, has opened a second home called, Structure House. This house is for the more hardcore drug addicts and parolees. The Lord is working and I am seeing real progress in these men’s lives.

As for the homeless on the streets, we continue to reach out and show the love of our Lord to them. We give them food, socks, and water and we are beginning to see the doors start to open with trust and some respect from those who do not trust anyone. Please pray for us as we continue to pour our lives out before them in hopes that they may see the Lord’s heart for them.

On a personal note, please keep my job in prayer--God always comes through for us--but keep us in your thoughts + prayers.

Please keep Golgotha in your prayers, and if you would like to support our ministry to the poor and forgotten, we would be thankful for your prayers and support.

January 2010 Update

Dear Family and Friends,

We pray the New Year has brought to you a new hope in Christ, and that His power through the Holy Spirit will fill your lives. Here at Golgotha we are in transition from ministry to a church. Golgotha is not changing its focus. We are still focused on the poor and forgotten souls in the world. It is just that with the planting of the new church, we are bringing Golgotha under the mission of the church. The only real change is the way the ministry receives its support (checks now need to be written out to “Harvest Golgotha Missions”).

As for the work we do, it is going well. Last week Cori and I (Will) went out on the streets with our burritos and about five bags of jackets, scarves, and beanies. The weather has been very cold and those on the streets were very thankful for the things we brought them.

The Men’s House is always a handful! Please continue to pray for the men that live in the house. We are in a bit of a transition with the house also. We are finding out that having a house is not as easy as we thought. The state requires a lot of things we were not aware of. So, as of right now, it is just a home rented by believers and we just happen to have Pastors and Teachers come over each night to give a home bible study. We found out it can not be a program of any kind. I kind of like it like that anyway, because the only program really needed is Jesus.

Please keep Golgotha in your prayers and if you would like to support our ministry to the poor and forgotten, we would be thankful for your prayers and support.

In Him and His Love,

Will Heck + Harvest Golgotha Missions

Holiday (HOLYday) Update

Dear Family and Friends,

Well, the holiday season is upon us. We pray your Thanksgiving was blessed. We are looking forward to celebrating the birth of our Lord this Christmas.

We are doing well here at Golgotha . Over Thanksgiving we were sick and were confined to our beds with high fevers for many days. I (Will) lost my voice and had to bring in Ron Dee, a pastor from Harvest in the Village, teach for me last week.

The Men’s home is doing very well. We are starting to see some real change in these guys' lives. They are beginning to see that without our Lord in the center of their lives and their decisions, they have no hope of full recovery. One of the men is actually an ex-pastor and is truly turning out to be a real blessing to the men in the home. The names of the men in the home are Aaron, Thomas, Robert, Glen, Doug, Brad. The addiction is not the problem itself. The addiction is the fruit of a deeper root issue. Once they are clean the real struggle begins, and some are not able to handle it and fall back into their old lifestyle. We pray for wisdom and a real discernment for these men. The house is touching lives and is directing me, more and more, to Jesus. Please pray for me and for Davey as we minister to these broken and hurting men. Pray too, that the Lord would continue to lay this ministry on the hearts of local churches and individuals that they would be able to stand behind us in prayer and financial support. We are not yet fully funded, but we know that this is the King's House and He will provide.

We thank you for standing and praying alongside us as we continue to bring these things to the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings.

Bless you all,
+Golgotha Ministries

Good things are happening

Dear Fellow Servants of Our Lord Jesus Christ,

We pray for you all and call upon our Lord to bless you in all you do. It is hard to believe a month has gone by so fast. We have been so very busy here at Golgotha trying to get the men’s recovery home up and running. As we shared last month, the Lord has given us the opportunity to head up a men’s Christian recovery home. The name of the home is “The King’s House”. Our house manager, Davey Martin, named it and we desire to see it be just that; a home for people to meet the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and to restore lives and families.

We already have six men and the manager living in the home. We only want a maximum of seven men, since that is all the beds we have and we don’t want it too crowded. So, as of right now we can only take in one more guy.

These men do devotions every morning, go to church on Sunday, and have local pastors come in on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights to teach and disciple these men. We are also starting a bible based recovery program on Monday nights. During the day they are looking for work and doing things around the house and yard. Please give us your prayers for wisdom for these men and the ability to keep this house running. We believe that giving these men a place to live that is Jesus centered will enable them to come out of their addiction and to be restored to their families and society.

If you desire to help with our vision, please call. If you desire to send a gift that would be appreciated too. The needs for the house are the basic food, paper towels, toilet paper, laundry soap, bath soap, etc. and also money for rent and utilities. Gift cards to local grocery stores or Wal-Mart are always a great and easy way to help this ministry.

The church plant, Harvest Bible Fellowship Avila Beach, is doing well. We had our first baptism this last Sunday where two men from the recovery house and our daughter, Cori ,were baptized. It has been great to see how God is working in this young body. Please keep it in your prayers.

In Him and His Love,
Willie, Kim, and Cori Heck
Golgotha Ministries

golgothaministris@gmail.com
www.avilaharvest.com

Here are pictures of some of the King's House men getting baptized.

Setember Update

Dear Fellow Workers in Christ,

Golgotha is a ministry that we started, to reach the unloved, the forgotten, and anyone who struggles to make it into God’s love. As you know, since moving back to the Central Coast from San Diego, we as a ministry, have been busy getting ready to plant a small church in Avila Beach. Many obstacles have come our way with work and Kim’s back. As for ministering on the streets and the homeless, it has been, to say the least, a struggle.

Well, I come to you with excitement and fear. A local homeless shelter that housed about ten men closed and the owner of the property called me. The house is an old home that has been in his family for years and is presently empty. The owner has been a friend of mine for years and in the past has brought clothing and such to us in San Diego. He asked me if I would be interested in starting a men’s recovery home. I told him that has always been our vision but we are having a hard time paying our bills now and we are starting a church so it was never in the equation.

We prayed and I called an old friend that ran men’s homes in the past and asked him if he might be able to give some insight. Well he is not only living back in town but was looking for a home to manage. We met with the owner and gave our plan to minister to ex-cons, drug addicts, homeless men, or men just needing a stable, Godly home to get right with Jesus and get their life together. I figure this home will cost $3000 a month to stand on its own. As you all know, Golgotha has fallen on very hard times and it goes without saying that we can’t do this alone, but God has called us to heal the broken hearts of His children. We move the house manager in this weekend and he is going to start cleaning the place to get it ready to bring men in as soon as possible. Please pray for wisdom and discernment. Come with us as we step out in faith once again and see what God will do.

Our needs for Golgotha House:
- Much prayer
- A one time financial gift
- People to pledge monthly support
- Bunk beds
- Couches
- People to come help clean up the property
- Men who are ready to change their lives
- For me to be able to stop plumbing and once again start ministering full time
(pasturing a church, running a homeless ministry, working fulltime and making time for the family is killing me!)

In Him and His Love,
  Willie, Kim, and Cori Heck
Golgotha Ministries
GolgothaMinistries@gmail.com

August 2009, Update

Hello Dear Friends,

We pray you are doing well, and we hope to hear that our Lord is using you all to touch those in need. We praise our Lord always for your continual prayer and support as we try to reach the unloved and forgotten people in society.

This past month we moved into our new home. We were able to rent a place here in Avila Beach, where, on October fourth, we will be starting services for the church plant. Our hope and prayer is that as this fellowship grows Golgotha Ministries will grow as well. Ministry to the poor is not something many people are called to fulltime. Most enjoy helping once in a while or when they feel they can, but to find people who are genuinely called and who are driven and passionate about working with forgotten and misunderstood people, is difficult. Yet we pray all the more for laborers and ask that you would pray with us as we move forward in this.

We would also ask that you would pray for Kim. She hurt her back during the move to Avila and has been confined to her bed about three weeks now. As you can imagine, it is extremely difficult to minister to others when your own wife is unable to leaver her bed for more than ten minutes at a time. So, in this we ask for your prayers. Once Kim is doing better we will be able to go back on the streets.

As for those who live on the streets, they are preparing for the weather change. We know they have enjoyed a dry summer, but the rain will soon be here, and when it comes, it will be hard to find them. Our prayer is that we will be able to find them shelter and introduce them to Jesus.

So, as always, we thank you again for your prayers and support. Please continue to pray for us as we begin to lay down roots in this city to which we feel we have been called, and we pray that the Lord would lead you in the ministry to which you have been called.

May the Lord, our King, bless you and keep you all.

Golgotha Ministries,
Willie, Kim and Cori Heck

July 23, 2009 Update

Dear Family and Friends in Christ,

We pray you are all doing well and that our Lord is touching your lives in real and exciting ways. Here at Golgotha we are pressing on. Our goal to reach the lost and forgotten is still in our sights. We desire to find ways to bring God’s love to those who feel unloved or forgotten. We know our Father in Heaven loves all His children. We, on the other hand, have our times of struggle. Those on the streets who are struggling with addiction need to see His love through us ,and as we give ourselves to God, He will use us to minister.

As we start this new fellowship in Avila Beach, the goal is to bring the vision of Golgotha into a church setting. Our group of about twenty people is not very big and mostly men and women in their twenties, but we are asking for God’s vision of reaching the lost to continue. Please pray for us as we are starting this fellowship October 4th in the small community center in Avila Beach. We know God will provide the money and the power to plant this church, but the homeless ministry is still our responsibility and I work fulltime to support the ministry. Please pray that the Lord will provide a way to minister on the streets, pastor a small church, and minister to my family while working fulltime. I feel once the church starts to get established, I might be able to cut back on work to be able to minister to the lost more. Until then, we are just doing what needs to be done in order to reach the lost. May our Lord give unto you His heart for those who don’t know Him. Please remember that only by God’s Grace, your prayers, and your support can this ministry survive.

On another note, we were able to find a place in See Canyon. After much prayer and tribulation, God has blessed us with a great house in a great area. Thank you for your prayers. It is always well received, well felt, and very much appreciated! God bless you all!

In Him and His Love,
  Willie, Kim, and Cori Heck
  Golgotha Ministries

Answered Prayers

Hello wonderful friends!

God is faithful and so very good! We got a house in See Canyon right by Avila. I am told that the people in Avila consider it to be part of Avila, so that is good. I went and talked to the Property Manager today and had to give them a check for part of the deposit. We did not have it this morning, but by the time I had to go talk with him God had provided it. Now we just need the rent part by the 14th.

So, please keep praying! God is awesome. I am once again amazed at how He answers prayer that quick at times. When I talked to the Property Manager this morning and he said I had to bring in a check this afternoon, I got sick to my stomach. But, as usual He came through. What's that verse about casting all your cares on Him?! I definitely learn the hard way! Good thing He is more Faithful than I am! Love to all of you and thank you for your faithful prayers!

Many Blessings,
Kim and the Heck Clan!

June 2009 Update + Urgent Prayer Need

Dear Family and friends,

This month I come to you with an expectant heart… that the Lord is going to do a powerful work! As most of you know, we are planting a church in Avila Beach, California. This small community has no Christian church and we believe the Lord has called us to minister to this area. We are already serving the homeless in San Luis Obispo and have now set a date of October 4th to plant a small fellowship in the local Community Center on Sunday mornings.

As soon as we set a date it seems as if the enemy has been coming out of his pit to come against us. On Saturday our landlord gave us a 30 day eviction notice to be out of the house we rent by July 19th. She said her situation has changed and she needs us out, even though we still have six months on our lease. We won’t be able to get our deposit back until we are out, so we don’t have the money to move.

Right now we live about 10 miles from Avila and we believe the leadership of a church should live in the community they are ministering in. The only problem is, we cannot find anything to rent in Avila. So please pray for us, that the Lord opens up a place for us and provides the money to move in on such short notice.

We have been ministering to the homeless for the past 10 years, but would rather not be ministering from the streets as a homeless family! Yet, our trust is in Him, for HE is Soverign and HE is GOOD.

God Bless you all for your prayers!
Our mailing address is P.O. Due to an unforeseeable change in our landlord's circumstances we were just given a 30 day notice! I am taking this as an answer to us praying about moving to Avila. It is just coming faster than we expected. Please be praying for us that we will find a four bedroom/two bath house with a garage somewhere in Avila Beach/See Canyon area. We really are trying to not freak and give everything to God, but it is hard. We do not have the money to move right now but our God is definitely bigger than this problem! We thank Him daily for your faithful prayers and support for this ministry.

We have seen God in powerful ways this past month. I seem to feel His presence more than ever. He has opened up time of real refreshment in my life. Even though it is a very hard time with the economy it is giving open doors to those who are asking questions about God. When people are not so secure in what the future holds, they seem to turn to our Lord for the stability that comes from a relationship with Him.

Golgotha is trying to minister God’s love to those who are without hope. Some of these are homeless and some of them are not. Our desire is to reach out to those in need and without anyone to tell them Jesus loves them and has not forgotten them. Please be praying for our ministry and that the door of friendship and trust can be opened with the poor in our community. That Jesus can bring not only food, but real lasting love and peace through His saving grace. We are also looking to start the church in Avila in September or October. We feel we need to live in Avila also as we will be ministering there, so we need to find a house there. Please be keeping these things in your prayers.

I truly want to thank all those servants that have been bringing socks, food for the burritos, and of course those wonderful ladies that knit scarves and hats each week for those on the street. Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.” Here at Golgotha we truly try to live by these scriptures. The work is hard and much of the time unseen or unappreciated, but the Lord sees all and He loves the unlovable. Although we are having the hardest time ever as a ministry on the financial side, the Lord is still blessing our outreach. We are getting to know some of the street people in SLO and the surrounding areas. Yesterday I took my daughter Cori with me, for the first time since relocating, to serve on the street with water and burritos. The people at the shelter really loved her and the homeless in the parks did too.

As a ministry, we are praying about starting a day at People’s Kitchen. This is a ministry that serves a hot meal daily in the Five Cities area. This would take the Lord to provide money for the food and helpers for Kim to be able to pull this off, but we feel it is important to reach the community we live in. We are also looking for an elderly daycare or home to visit in our new area.

Golgotha may be struggling in the eyes of the world, but not in the Spirit. God’s love for the poor and downtrodden will always be our heart and our mission.

In Him and His Love,
Willie, Kim, & Cori Heck
Golgotha Ministries

March 2009 Update

Dear Fellow Workers in Christ,

May the love of our Lord be with you and may His blessing follow you always. We are getting settled into our new place and we have started a Tuesday night home bible study and a Sunday night service at Harvest Church in the Village. Both of these bible studies are doing well. We are also serving the homeless in the area with water and burritos. We are planning to give out socks soon.

Many people have called and asked if they could come out on the streets with me to serve those without homes. I am at this time going to different places each week trying to see the place with the most need. I am also trying to make relationships with the homeless so that trust can be obtained. Until I have a specific route that I will go each week, it is better for me to go alone. Once I have that down then I will open it up for those wanting to go. Until that time if anyone wants to help with the food it would be a blessing. Here is a list of items I always need:

              - Potatoes
              - Grated Cheese
              - Stew Meat (we will freeze until used)
              - Canned Jalapenos
              - Socks
              - Bottled Water

Thank you for your prayers for this ministry and our family. This past month has truly gone by quickly for us and has definitely been a time or season of change. We are, for the most part, settled into our new place and are looking forward to what the Lord has for us. Soon after we got here I received a call from a local pastor who had a few questions and needed some advice. He called and asked me to come down to his church so they could pick my brain and I could share some ideas about how to minister to the drug addicts in their area. When I listened to what they were doing, I was really excited. They have moved a younger man into a crack motel. He rents a room like everyone else. Into this hellhole he brings the Good News and has a bible study. At first he had about 30 people but now he only has a few. I shared with them that these people need to see that he is for real and they need to see consistency. Please be praying for this church in Santa Maria and their vision for reaching the lost in their area.

In other news, yesterday I went on the streets with water and burritos for the first time since we have been here. I went alone with a smaller amount of burritos. I only took twelve burritos and some water and found myself out of food and water before I found most of the homeless. I came across this group of men that were a little stand-offish at first because a group from a local church had come by, with great and loving intentions, and they were really pressuring these men to come to church and to come to Christ. I sat and listened to these men talking for about fifteen minutes before I even approached them. I have found in my years of street ministry and dealings with the homeless that I must come consistently and earn their trust before they will allow me into their world to be able to speak into their lives. But the Lord was faithful to me and gave me favor with these men and they talked openly about a place where many people go. I drove to this location and found many homeless and those living in their cars. Next week I will be ready with enough food and water to serve these forgotten souls. Please pray for favor in our new area and that the Lord would do a mighty work.

Our new mailing address is P.O. We are very sorry about last month’s letter not getting out to you. I wrote one on a weekend that Kim and Cori were up in the Central Coast looking for a place to live but with the moving and packing, we never got it printed and mailed to you.

As you may know, we are now up on the Central Coast. We are not unpacked and the garage is full of boxes. I have been here for two weeks while Kim and Cori just got here Thursday night. The reason I was here is to be able to keep working. Please pray for my job to pick up. I normally have 6 to 8 jobs a day and for the past two weeks I have had 2, 1, or even 0 jobs a day. We know the Lord will not leave us nor forsake us, but the times are hard and we have to be able to pay our bills.

On a lighter side… We are excited about what the Lord is doing here. I can’t wait to get out and minister to the homeless and forgotten. We are also going to be starting a Home Group as soon as we get settled and have the house put together. We expect the Lord’s touch on us while we continue our ministry in this new location. The need is here and the love of our Lord is always for the lost and needy.

Our new number is 805-202-8296 but will not be hooked up until Thursday or Friday. I still have my cell number which will stay the same as it is also my work number. Kim still has the same cell number she has had for nine years. If you have any questions feel free to call either one of us. Our new mailing address is P.O. Box 73, Avila Beach, CA 93424. Our actual address is 1148 Pacific Pointe Way, Arroyo Grande, CA 93420. As you know, we are preparing to move Golgotha Ministries north to San Luis Obispo County. We are also going to be merging together with Harvest Bible Fellowship, in Arroyo Grande, to start a new church in the town of Avila Beach. This town is on the coast right between Shell Beach and San Luis Obispo (SLO). The homeless population in SLO is getting larger all the time and outreach to these souls is much needed. The town of Avila Beach has no church at all; no Protestant, or Catholic, or any cults such as Jehovah Witnesses or Mormons. So our hopes to bring the light into this town are very important.

We will be moving from San Diego to SLO County January 1st. Please pray for us and the ministry. I come to you with a heavy heart because in the flesh it seems impossible. We have already put the wheels in motion by giving our notice on the home we rent and my job, but we have no place to move to or the money to do so. We trust that our Lord will provide our need, yet He always seems to stretch us to our limit. Kim and I serve our Lord with our very life. Our home is a mission field and our spare time is for those in need. We have had over 64 people in need live with us over our 27 years of marriage and we know and trust that our Lord will provide our needs to move and to be able to serve while in SLO County. I don’t mind telling you we need prayer for strength and faith because at times we feel all alone in our ministry. We love you all and know you are like minded in our ministry.

We want to wish all of you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS, and a very BLESSED NEW YEAR! We look forward to what our Lord is going to do in all our lives!

In Him and His Love,
Willie, Kim, and Cori Heck
Golgotha Ministries

September 2008: Update

Dear Friends and Family,

This month we are at a crossroads in our ministry and we need your prayers for wisdom from our Lord. We have been serving the poor and the needy, the drug addicted and the homeless, for these past seven years. We feel the Lord called us to serve the poor for a reason beyond the physical needs of those being served. We have always felt that the Lord was training us for something. We also believe that our mission, in all reality, should be part of what the local churches do, but this aspect of serving on the streets and in the elderly homes seems to be taught but not done by many local fellowships today.

For the past few months my heart has been longing to start a church that would not only teach God’s transformational, living giving Word, but would integrate serving the poor as an intricate part of their function as a church. I have also longed for the Central Coast where I lived for 17 years and raised both of my sons.

We are praying about planting a church in Avila Beach, California with Harvest Christian Fellowship. We feel a deep connection with these believers and they have supported us for six years. We would need to move up to the Central Coast and serve with Harvest for a few months to insure we are on the same page ministry wise. During that time we would start to serve the homeless, poor and elderly in the area. We would also start a home fellowship and pray for favor over this area. Then after about six months of serving at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Arroyo Grande, we would plant a church in Avila Beach. We would also try to start a Christian home for men who are recovering from drugs.

We know this letter might come as a shock to most of you, but we feel our Lord is moving us and we desperately need your prayers and input to make our decision. We are not changing our vision for the poor and homeless, just our location. We would prayerfully ask those who financially support our ministry to please continue in your support to allow us to make this decision, move (if that is where the Lord is leading),continue to serve the poor and unloved in the interim, and find a job until the church can support a family.

May our Lord bless you and keep you always!

In Him and His Love,
Willie, Kim, and Cori Heck
Golgotha Ministries

P.S. If you support us financially and need a tax receipt, please make the check out to Golgotha Ministries. Please send all correspondence to PO Box 43, Ramona, CA, 92065

This is our prayer list we would ask you to pray for:

1. Direction-if the Lord wants us to move or to stay in San Diego
2. Favor in Avila Beach, California if we move
3. Favor and spiritual connection with Harvest Christian Fellowship
4. Wisdom for us and the leadership at Harvest
5. Financially: Job, Support, Etc.
6. The Lord’s will for a missionary type church that is service centered
7. For those who are looking for the Lord & do not fit in living on the Central Coast.
         May this become their home

Welcome to Golgotha Ministries

Welcome here.
