A Fresh Vision & A Call To Pray

To our dear friends in the ministry of grace for those who need a special touch from Jesus,
I went on a three day sabbatical to a monastery in the hills, overlooking the ocean in Big Sur. This time was much needed. I had three full days of silence and prayer with our Savior, Jesus. I came searching for direction in the ministry, life, the church, and the streets. I came away feeling the Lord is moving and desires more from us at Golgotha. Please be praying.
I am going to be talking to the Pastor of a local church that hosts a local “People’s Kitchen.” People’s Kitchen is a place that local churches bring a hot meal 365 days a year to those in need. I am going to ask him if we could use his parking lot to do an outside worship and church service for the homeless one hour before the churches serve lunch. The homeless already gather early and wait. They are already there and it would be a great opportunity to teach the Word of God and introduce people to Jesus. This will be a large undertaking for us since I work 5 days a week and pastor a small church on Sundays. So Saturday would be my only day.
I am also asking that you pray I would be able to quit my job so I can minister full time once again. I feel the Lord is calling me back to full time ministry. With prayer all things are possible. Please pray for me, I am physically exhausted and need to be able to minister.  At this point I don’t feel I can fully minister to those on the streets and pastor properly with my current schedule. I know the prayers of the children of God go before the throne.
Blessings always,
In Him and His Love,

Merry Christmas 2011

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to all our Fellow Prayer Warriors in Christ,
With your help and the help of the church we have filled and have ready over 40 Christmas boxes. On Christmas Eve we will be going out to the streets with them for those who live outside. Thank you to all the people that donated items for our boxes. They will be a huge blessing to those we give them to. We are also sending items to those serving in our Armed Forces over seas. We want to keep in mind that during this time of remembering our Lord, and spending time with and thinking of loved ones can be very hard on all those family members who are far away.

I want to share one quick story about some new jackets that were donated for Golgotha to give away.  This morning, before work, I loaded some brand new, very nice and warm jackets we received and went out to find someone that needed them. I came upon a husband and wife sitting on the side of the road with very thin clothing on. The weather was very cold and ice was on the grass in the park.  I asked them if they had any good jackets and they said that what they had on was all they had. I pulled out two nice, warm jackets from my van and their faces lit up. This is why we do what we do. The joy of the Lord filled them and me.  May we always remember Jesus is the reason for the season!
We pray that you all have a very BLESSED CHRISTmas and a very Happy New Year!
In Him and His Love,

Fall is Here

Dear Fellow Doers of the Word,
Fall is coming, and with the change of seasons comes the colder weather. Please remember to be praying for those without homes as we come into fall and winter.
I have a praise report for all of you who pray for us here at Golgotha and for the Men’s homes we have.
For the past month or so a 17 year old has been living in one of the houses. Davey, the house manager, was asked to let this young man into the house. His father is a gang banger and is in prison. His mother is in recovery from drugs and alcohol and lives with her AA sponsor. This young man did not stand a chance within the confines of that situation.
Well, to continue the story, Davey let him in the house. This young man had no money, no family, no job, and no hope. He is a hard case and has a very large chip on his shoulder. Davey brought the guys to church on Sunday and, after church, this young man, whose name is Zion, came over and wanted to talk. He said that he has hurt a lot of people in his life and was broken about it.  I shared the grace and salvation of Christ with him and Zion came to Jesus and asked for forgiveness. He accepted Christ and is now born again.
Please pray and continue to pray for Zion and his life. He has a very hard road ahead of him. We are trying to keep him working and clean. The times ahead are going to be very tough, so please keep him in your prayers.

At Summer's End

Dear Friends and Co-Workers in the Service of Our Lord Jesus Christ. . .

We pray for you all and long to see our Lord’s touch upon your lives as we serve the poor and hungry. Summer is coming to a close and winter will be here before we know it. We are looking forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for us here at Golgotha and in Avila Beach as we try to serve those in the community and on the streets.

At times it is very hard to see the destruction that drugs and alcohol do to many that we serve. One young man has been in and out of our men’s home three times. He is 19 years old, and he is truly a nice young man who, when sober, is amazing. But last Sunday he went and got drunk, got himself arrested, and is now out of the men’s home. Please pray for Zack as we try to reach him - only Jesus can restore him. Please pray for his mother, Dina, who is at a loss and is also in the middle of a divorce. These people we minister to have hard lives and little to no hope. Please pray for them and us as we attempt to bring God’s love to them.

New Summer Homelessness

Dear Friends and Fellow Laborers in the Ministry,

Peace be to you and may our Lord bless you always. Well, summer is upon us and the days are getting longer. For those who live on the streets it seems to be getting harder. Last week we went on the streets to serve the burritos and socks. It seemed to be different in some ways. Mainly, there are more people living in cars and motor homes. These are the ones who have just become homeless recently. Most of them rented and lost their apartments due to no job, so now they live out of their cars. Hopelessness is setting in for these folks.

The very first person I talked to last week was a woman who, when I asked her if she wanted a burrito, just started crying and took the food almost like an animal. She just grabbed it like I might not really give it to her. As she cried I asked her what she was going to do and she simply said, “I think I might commit suicide.” As I talked to her, I told her that the Lord sent me to her and to just take one day at a time. I urged her to get help, but off she went and that was the end of our conversation.

Please pray for these new homeless people. It is very hard on them. Pray for us, also, to be able to give Godly advice and wisdom to these lost and hurting souls. God Bless you!

A Spring Update

Dear Family and Friends,

We thank our Lord for you always and hope you are all doing well in these times of unrest and turmoil. As we look into the Word of God we see that Jesus tells us to see the signs of the times, and the beginning of sorrows, as it says in Matthew 24:6-7, but we have faith in our Lord and we know He is in control. This season we are in will end as they all do, but, as we are in it, please do not forget the poor and forgotten.

We are excited about the work Jesus is doing. The Men’s Homes are in transition. We have been contacted by the Veterans Administration and have been asked to be open to the Vets in our Community. We feel our Lord would want our soldiers to have a home, where they can work on getting their lives back in order.

Please pray for all we do here at Golgotha, and we thank you always for your prayers and support.

In His Love,
Will, Kim, and Cori Heck

Golgotha Update | February 2011

I want to start off by saying: Thank you all for the prayers and support we have received over these past few years! We ask our Lord’s blessing to be upon you all. Without your prayers I do not know where we would be. Many of you still have a vision for the lost and forgotten, and we thank you.

This past month has been like most of late, some good days and some bad days. This past Sunday I had the privilege of baptizing one of our residents at The King’s House Recovery Home. This brother was raised Catholic, and as many stories we have heard, he was one of those young boys that was molested in the church. Now he is 52 years old and for this man to be able to overcome his spiritual battle and his drug addiction is a miracle. He still has a long way to go, but the Lord’s work is being done thanks to you all!

May our Lord bless you and please keep him in your prayers. I do not feel I should use names but our Lord knows who he is.
